# Introduction

Whether you are an experienced programmer or not, this guide is intended for everyone to use as a reference for setting up your environment or installing a languages/libraries.

Some of the environments we will set up are [Node](http://nodejs.org/) (JavaScript), [Python](http://www.python.org/), [C++](http://www.cplusplus.com/) and [Ruby](http://www.ruby-lang.org/). Even if you don't program in all of them, they are useful to have as many command-line tools rely on them. We'll also show you some useful daily use applications. As you read and follow these steps, feel free to post any feedback or comments you may have.

All contributions to the guide are welcome. Please help add support for other libraries and languages. To make a contribution please use our contribution template.

**Looking for contributors to maintain and extend the documentation.**

**Note:** This guide has been generated using [GitBook](http://www.gitbook.io/) and is open source, feel free to contribute or create new issues on [GitHub](https://github.com/daton89/daton-mac-setup/issues).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://daton.gitbook.io/daton-mac/master.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
